I never predicted for this page to end up being posted on Valentine's Day. But. It's an exciting update. In that aspect it's pretty neat. But. The subject matter. In that aspect, it's really depressing in reality. I didn't think you guys wouldn't want an update today. So here it is.
Yep. I am excited for this part. Why? Cuz you don't see this type of stuff in BLs too often. Though in another version of GH (yeah - I do plan on publishing this someday, you know ;D ;D ;D to be famoussssss otl~~~) I'll probably go deeper w/that. Or something. I need more understanding and such before that. So to the readers who told me that GH is better than most BLs in that I'm showing more...realistic stuff — THANKS! You are truely making me think more and more about that and knowing that I'm on the right track makes me feel pretty good about this version.

Ah, memories
Oh, I know all too familiar the kind of stuff Charlie has/will have to deal with. Homophobic assholes beating you up, bottom feeder scum who will play on your any insecurity in order to get an easy one night stand, and that's only the beginning.

Thank you so much more making this story much more than a frilly foofy doofy bubble gum and sugar snaps love fest. I mean, I love romance stories to death, but I'm sick of any boy love story being nothing but a load of delusional, trite, blissful meaninglessness. At the same time though, you're not just making it a depressing, self indulgent tragedy. Like... there's reality in this, and reality should be neither overly happy or depressing. If anything, it needs to be optimistic, and that's addressing both the good and the bad sides of life. For that, I hold you to high honors. :]

Guh, I'm blathering on. The jock is moron, putting a tie on his head? Seriously, how immature! :U

Um. I think I've already said all I want to about queer-bashing. It's very nice that the President of the United States of America doesn't like it. Strictly it's illegal in the UK, too, but it still happens. Laws against it aren't the answer, building a world where small minded people don't hate anything different to their experience is.

Randomly, I heard on the radio last week or maybe the week before that an OFSTED inspector (they check up on teaching standards in UK schools) objected to a teacher initiating discussion on 'Xenophobia' and how to spell and use the word, as apparently it was too adult a concept for 12 year olds.

*record scratch* ;___; I was tricked...
It's true that you wouldn't see something like that in most BL stories, but at the same time most BL isn't really aiming for that realistic touch ^^; Charlie got balls yo.

Ttly agree, shounen-ai pretty much by definition doesn't give a toss about reality, and given the target audience couldn't really be expected to be exploring MxM relationship/gender identity issues. Typically it's idealized and aimed squarely at a mostly female readership. In that respect, GH is mixing the shojo with the josei.

It's this sort of niche I particularly like, personally. Plain vanilla shojo/shounen-ai tends to be a bit light on actual story for my taste.

I'm all for bringing realism to stories! There's so much for me to love with this comic. I love the edgy feel to the art, the use of color, the expressiveness of the characters, the actual characterizations, the story, I could go on. GH totally rocks in every respect as far as I'm concerned, and if it ever hits print, it's going on my shelf as soon as I can get me a copy... ^_^
